CEBU, Philippines - A world-class race tracks awaits more than a hundred motocross riders in the comeback event of MS Motosuit Series billed as the 15th Calambua Motocross Cup this Sunday in Calambua, San Remigio.
Organized by businessman-sportsman and Calambua Barangay Captain Lou Ornopia, the revival of Southern Philippines’ biggest motocross will be a six-leg series that also serves as a sidelight of Calambua's annual fiesta in honor of their beloved patron San Vicente Ferrer.
The event was formally re-launched yesterday during the SCOOP Forum at the Cebu City Sports Center.
Out of the six initial legs, three of the legs will be done in Calambua to maximize the use of the racetrack.
Cebu's living legend in motocross, Pepo Rubi designed and racetrack that is described as highly technical and is patterned after that of the international standard.
"In the previous years, we are only utilizing one-fourth of the mountain, this time, we are going to race in the entire mountain, two mountains actually that makes this a very challenging one both for the veterans and beginners," said Rubi.
"Although there is also a national series that is being organized by M & M (Man and Machine), pero nothing that is for Cebu only. When MS Motosuit ended, kami pud mga local riders nahugno. But with it’s the revival, nabuhian pud mi og interest," added Rubi.
Riders from all over the Philippines are expected to see action this Sunday. All races under the MS Motosuit Series will also be aired at CCTN. (FREEMAN)
