CEBU, Philippines - The Living Word-International Bible Institute (LW-IBI) and the House of Hope (HOH) Slingers bested separate foes to set up a title clash in the 35-above division of the 4th Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Basketball League over the weekend at the old Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu gym along General Maxilom Avenue, this city.
LW-IBI of Pastor Mel Caparros advanced to the championship round following a 81-71 victory over the Christian Workers Basketball Association (CWBA), while HOH booked the remaining final ticket after a masterful 59-34 demolition of LW-South.
Edwin Catamco paced LW-IBI with 15 points followed by Mario Suarez and Wellington Yu with 12 markers apiece. Alvin Abestilla led CWBA with 17 points, while Ronald Canoy had 14 in a losing cause.
On other hand, Ian Santos and Nelson Aguilar topscored for HOH with 11 and 10 points, respectively.
LW-IBI and HOH will clash for the 35–above crown this Monday.
In the quarterfinal round of the 34-below age group, Kareem Alocillo had 15 points as CCF subdued LW-Talisay, 54-45, while Franz Dysam exploded with 26 points to power the PC Nets to a 62-49 whacking of the BUCCI Zealots.,
In the other games, the CFGA Kingdom Builders of coach Abel Bungcaras shackled the ACES, 75-72, while the Faith Tabernacle Eagles crushed the Cross Pointe All-Stars, 59-39.
Jerome Napao topped CFGA with 14 points followed by Adelfo Delgado and Samuel Schaub with 12 apiece, while Leo Labiste tossed in 13 markers for Faith Tabernacle.
Currently holding 5-0 slates, both the CCF and Faith Tabernacle are the only unbeaten teams in the two-month tournament backstopped by Psalm Property, Eagles Vantage, T & G Omnia+, Apple Tree Suites, and M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala.— EBV (FREEMAN)
