CEBU, Philippines - Belgian Anthony Devos and Cianyl Gonzales topped their respective divisions in the kickoff leg of Sugbutriathlon’s Triathlon Team Championship series yesterday in Dalaguete, Cebu.
Devos gave some neat lessons to local triathletes after dominating the premier class as he finished the race in two hours, nine minutes and 35 seconds. Kristiane Lim settled for second in 2:17:45 followed by Ralph Arche with 2:18:37.
In the distaff side, Gonzalez won the overall crown of the standard division with an upset against former triathlon queen Lorhiz Echavez-Lopez.
Gonzales came in first with 2:52:43 clocking. Echavez-Lopez was second (2:56:18), while Hannah Lou Galo (3:17:13) came in third.
Emmanuel Comendador topped category A over former national triathlete Gerrie Calinawan as Paolo Carmelo Revil dominated category C as Stefan Lee Cagulada reigned in category D.
Alexander Ray Diaz came out the fastest after posting 1:25:03 in the sprint distance followed by Don Edrain Tirol (1:26:50) and Vincent Ace Duenas (1:30:40) at third.
Meg Stevens (1:36:10), Kimberly Mae Dominic Lao (1:49:53) and Abby Ponce (2:26:53) are the top three finishers in the women’s sprint race. (FREEMAN)
