CEBU, Philippines - Little-known Jennalyn Camanso stunned former Cebu road running queen Christy Sevilleno-Tutor to rule the women's 5-kilometer race of the PNP Run for A Cause yesterday at the PRO-7 grounds. Proceeds of the charity event will be donated to the families affected by typhoon Yolanda in Leyte and in northern Cebu.
Camanso crossed the finish line in 22 minutes and 25 seconds, way ahead of Tutor who checked in at 23:33.
Ultramarathoner Jade Abellana wound up third with a 23:50 clocking, while Regine Nacion and tennis standout Sheena Camporedondo placed fourth and fifth with the time of 29:41 and 30:31, respectively.
Rounding up the top 10 cast in the women's open were Carmela Cataylo (31:17), Roselle Graciano (31:28), Avelina Ermac (31:49), Rowena Duropan (33:07), and Annabelle Berondo (33:30).
In the men's side, Joel Detuya claimed the top spot with the fastest time of 21 minutes and 13 seconds. He was just one second ahead of Alcher Sanopao as Riche Bation ended up third with the time of 21:23.
Completing the top 10 finishers were Gener Bautista (21:28), Alfredo Son (21:48), Joel Damalo (21:51), Alfitche Mangaron (21:58), Kurt April Quijano (22:12), Joselito Castanares, Jr. (22:16) and Bryan Guillen (22:40).—(FREEMAN)
