Final leg of Cebu ultra race series slated July 27

CEBU, Philippines - Over 200 runners are set to see action in the final leg of the Cebu Ultra Runners Club's three-part Ultramarathon Series on July 27 from Tabuelan to D' Family Park in Brgy. Talamban, this city. The grueling race will kick off at 6 pm and is expected to end at 2 pm the following day.

The Tabuelan-Cebu City route covers a total of 100 kilometers, just like the first two legs. The cut off time is still set at 20 hours.

The event kicked off on June 30 of last year in Pinamungajan. The previous leg was held in Alcoy last November 17.

More than the top spot of the last leg, the local ultramarathon community also looks forward to seeing how many participants are able to complete the three legs.

The participants are reminded to avoid littering. They are also required to bring their own water bottle or hydration pack. Water can be refilled at every aid station located every 10 kilometers.

Since it will begin at nighttime, headlamps, blinkers and a cellphone are also being required along with whistles for emergency purposes.

A medical certificate issued within two weeks before the race must be submitted on or before distribution of race kits.

During the race proper, runners must make their presence known at all time stations located along the route.             Like  the previous editions, secret marshalls will be deployed to make sure no one will cheat.

Cheating will result in immediate disqualification of the runner per CUC ruling. (FREEMAN)
