CEBU, Philippines - The Talisay Razkals pulled off a nerve-wracking 4-3 victory over Phoenix FC to reign supreme in the 13-under division of the 13th Cebu Inter-Club Football Cup yesterday at the Aboitiz Sports Field in Brgy. Subangdaku, Mandaue City.
Phoenix actually broke the ice of match courtesy of Angelo Colina at the sixth, but Christian Agot fired back-to-back goals at the 10th and 20th to put the Razkals on top by a hairline, 2-1.
The Razkals continued to pounce on Phoenix, with Jascha Tabar finding the back of the net at the 43rd and Kenneth Miaga chipping in a goal at the 57th for a commanding 4-1 lead.
Phoenix tried to turn the tables on the Razkals but they were able to score only two goals from Limuran and Aguilar at the 58th and 59th, respectively.
On the other hand, the ERCO-BRO Nationals will face Cebu Dynamo FC, while Los Amigos tackles Canduman FC in the semifinals of the under-15 division. Cebu Dynamo advanced after terminating Ormoc FC, 4-0, Los Amigos defeated Phoenix, 1-0 while Canduman posted a 3-0 rout of VDR2 FC.
Over at the Cebu City Sports Center, an international 15-under match pitting the Philippines' Global FC against Frenz Malaysia-B will take place before the men's open semifinals.
The exciting showdown set at 3 pm features defending champion Hiroshi FC against the Queen City United.
Prior to that, the University of Cebu-Nigerian team will take on San Roque Rehab in the semifinal duel.
San Roque Rehab took the top spot in group A with a perfect 5-0 record. They closed their elimination round campaign with a 12-3 demolition of Danao FC. (FREEMAN)
