Mexican, Indon fighters vow to dish out impressive wins

CEBU, Philippines - Mexican knockout artist Jose Emilio ‘Gigante’ Perea promised to spoil Jimrex ‘Executioner’ Jaca’s plan of reviving his dream to be a world champion as they face each other on the undercard of the "Pinoy Pride XX:Laban Kung Laban" this Saturday night at the Pacific grand ballroom of Waterfront-Cebu City Hotel and Casino.

Jaca and Perea will slug it out for the vacant WBO Oriental light welterweight title in one of the supporting bouts of the slambang show topbilled by ALA Gym stalwart Jason ‘El Niño’ Pagara, who will defend his WBO International light welterweight crown against Mexican Aaron ‘Jewel’ Herrera.

Perea will try to be an old nightmare that will haunt Jaca as his trainer, Ernesto Salgado Garcia, was in the corner of Mexican boxing legend Juan Manuel Marquez when he beat the Filipino warrior via ninth round TKO seven years ago in Texas.

“I have worked with several Mexican world champions in the past and one of them is Marquez as one of the assistant trainers for Nacho (Beristain) during his victory against Jaca,” said the veteran Mexican trainer in a press conference yesterday at the Allure Hotel and Suites.

"I know he (Jaca) is a good boxer and he is on a winning streak, but I can say that Emilio will go home after the fight as the winner. We cannot promise a knockout against Jaca, but Emilio has all the ability to win in this fight and to become a world champion in the years to come.”

The 30-year-old Perea also clarified that he actually sports a 29-2 win-loss record packed with 20KOS, a far from cry from the  22-2 slate spiked with 14KOs  posted  boxrec.com.

“I trained hard for this fight. I have a big respect to my opponent but I am sure that I will win this Saturday,” said Perea, who fought for the vacant WBF featherweight belt but lost to countrymen Jose Lopez via majority decision last year in Guadalajara, Mexico.

In another attraction, Indonesian super flyweight contender Isack Junior also vowed to hand WBO Asia-Pacific super bantamweight champion Genesis ‘Azukal’ Servania  his first career-loss.

“He (Servania) is a strong fighter and he has good defense, but I will win in this fight because this is important for my career,” said the 24-year-old Indonesian brawler.

Meanwhile, all the protagonists of "Pinoy Pride XX" will face each other for the first time in the final press conference this afternoon at the Aegean room of Waterfront Hotel. (FREEMAN)
