CEBU, Philippines - The Chamber of Customs Brokers, Inc. (CCBI) kept its unbeaten record intact but had to work extra hard before squeezing out a 104-100 win over the ARA Furniture in the HoopStars 2013 Corporate League last Tuesday at the J Centre Mall rooftop gym along A.S. Fortuna Street in Mandaue City.
Trailing by at least 10 points in the first three quarters, the CCBI employed a trapping defense to slow down ARA's offensive and in the process sent the game into a wild finish.
Playing without ace playmaker Kenneth Kern Sesante, CCBI found it difficult to adjust in the first three periods, but were too smart to have their pointguard sacrifice their points and instead turned to their big men to produce the points which became a very effective ploy.
Former CIT Wildcats center Ramil Aniñon paced CCBI with 27 points. Daniel Enriquez added 21 markers as they improved their clean slate to 5-0.
The scores
CCBI (104) - Aniñon 27, Enriquez 21, Moral 11, N. Medalle 9, Palero 9, Laborte 8, B. Medalle 5, Elloren 4, Maningo 4, Bensi 4, Villaronza 2
