CEBU, Philippines - The multi-titled Cebuano daredevil Jon-Jon Adlawan carved a lasting impression in his motocross career after he came up with a double victory in the farewell race of MS Motosuit last Sunday at the Sugtungan racetrack in Brgy. Basak, Lapu-Lapu City.
The ageless Pepo Rubi was expected to close down the series, but Adlawan showed up in highly competitive form as a way of expressing his gratitude to the event that molded him into a top-caliber rider.
The seventh and finale of the MS Motosuit Series billed as the 2nd Barangay Captain Isabelito Darnayla Cup saw Adlawan sweeping the expert and pro division crowns.
Adlawan outlasted fellow MS Motosuit image model John Flores for the top spot in the expert category and Salmer Longakit for the pro open title as Cyril Tariman ended third in both divisions.
Flores though made sure he won't go home empty-handed by dominating the intermediate class. Dongkey Sanchez wound up second followed by Jougie Basco.
Sanchez stole part of the show as he lorded it over in the open enduro and novice production, both against Sadam Gungob.
Basco, on the other hand, topped the beginners production as Bryan Villano and Denmark Supatan occupied the next two spots.
Supatan also went away with a champion’s trophy via the mini class 85. He edged out Brylle Ornopia as JP Cuesta placed third.
Brylle's dad Seigfred grabbed the executive A crown after fending off Ayen Ledesma, while Roscel Gungob finished third.
The rest of the winners were Jun Enriquez (executive B), James Doroy (executive C), Yonard Gelo (mini 65), Ryan Quirol (local enduro), and Willy Borces (underbone).
MS Motosuit big boss Lou Ornpia is dropping off the curtains of his motocross series to shift to underbone and scooter racing next year in partnership with FDR Tires. (FREEMAN)
