CEBU, Philippines — Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia is currently in Hong Kong leading a 17-person Cebu delegation to attend the Asia Pacific Investors Cooperation (APIC) Summit.
She was invited to be the keynote speaker of the forum, which will be attended by investors, business leaders, lawmakers, government officials, among others.
"They want me to speak about opportunities that are now available actually for those who would wish to invest in Cebu," Garcia said in a video posted yesterday by Sugbo News, the Capitol's news portal, while Garcia was at the Mactan Cebu International Airport.
With her as keynote speaker in the gathering, the governor is expected to market Cebu to business owners and investors and persuade them to invest in Cebu.
"How can I miss this opportunity to market our beloved island of Cebu where, right now, all the indicators, all the factors, all the ingredients, are right for investors to come in?" Garcia said.
The Capitol officials who are with the governor are Provincial Board Members Glenn Anthony Soco, Victoria Corominas-Toribio, Kerrie Keane Shimura; and Carissa Garcia, the governor's daughter, among others.
According to its website, APIC is the “only strategic private network exclusively created by and for Asian sovereign wealth funds, government funds, central banks, and public and private pension plans in Asia.”
The group “provides educational and business networks which impact the institutional investor community in the Asian region.”
The summit is an annual year-ender event which gathers the APIC network in Hong Kong. — (FREEMAN)
