CEBU, Philippines — The Regional Intelligence Division of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 is currently tracking drug dealers in response to the order of PRO-7 director Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin to find out where the illegal drugs come from and how often supplies arrive in Central Visayas.
According to PRO-7 spokesman Police Lieutenant Colonel Gerard Ace Pelare, Aberin said they want to know the actions of their opponents so they know what steps to take. He said they are employing an analytical drug supply reduction strategy when it comes to drugs.
The new PNP director, Police General Rommel Marbil, also said it is necessary to know exactly how much illegal drugs enters an area of responsibility. That supply must be neutralized; it’s no longer enough to just focus on how many are arrested.
“We do not focus on the number if arrested persons but kung kinahanglan ang supply g’yud ma-neutralize unya lahi man gud ang atong set-up diri sa Central Visayas because this is a transshipment point of illegal drugs in Visayas and Mindanao so daghan moagi diri nga supply not only intended for Central Visayas but for other regions in Visayas and some parts of Mindanao. So makita ninyo ubay-ubay g’yud drugas ang atong nanga-intercept because daghan mang mo-agi pud diri nga illegal drug supply,” Pelare said.
Pelare added that they know the routes some drug smugglers take, but smugglers also make new routes. — (FREEMAN)
