Days after Pro-7 head was replaced: Negros Oriental police chief relieved from post

CEBU, Philippines — The Provincial Director of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO), Police Colonel Reynaldo Lizardo, was relieved from his post and was replaced by Police Col. Alex Recinto.

The turnover ceremony was held at the Maringa Hall, Camp Lt. Col. Francisco C. Fernandez Jr., Barangay Agan-an, Sibulan, Negros Oriental yesterday morning.

Newly installed Police Regional Office (PRO)-7 Regional Director, Police Brigadier General Anthony Aberin, led the turnover ceremony.

Lizardo took office as the Provincial Director of the Negros Oriental Police Provincial Office for four months.

His successor is a member of the PNP Class 1998 and is a lawyer.

Earlier, former PRO-7 Chief, Police Brigadier General Jerry Bearis, was also relieved from his post and Aberin replaced him.

Bearis now heads the Aviation Security Group of the Philippine National Police.

While the reason for the relief of Bearis and Lizardo has not been confirmed, speculations abound that it was because of the massacre that happened in Pamplona, Negros Oriental where nine people died, including former Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.  (FREEMAN)
