CEBU, Philippines — Another big event is taking place at the same venue where the most talked-about Sinulog took place, the South Road Properties, with the region’s first time hosting of the National Fire Olympics on March 16 and 17.

Cebu City Fire Station spokesperson, Senior Fire Officer 2 SFO2 Wendell Villanueva, said they are nearing 100 percent in preparations while all are set for the venue of the event itself already.

“Andam na ta..almost 100% prepared. In fact, ang venue, andam na pud,” Villanueva said yesterday.

Some of the delegates of the biggest annual skills competition organized by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) have already arrived, according to Villanueva, while others are expected to arrive today and tomorrow.

“Ang mga delegates naghinay-hinay na pud pg abot..this is a competition sa nagkalain-laing region sa tibuok Pilipinas diin magtigi sila sa lain-laing kategorya..Atong makita ang mga best-of-the best puhon,” added Villanueva.

Over a thousand firefighters, fire volunteers, and fire brigade personnel coming from different parts of the country are expected at the event.

“Excited ang mga kabomberuhan nato lakip na sad sa barangay and industrial category,” Villanueva said.

The National Fire Olympics is an annual event that allows BFP personnel to showcase their firefighting and rescuing and the speed and accuracy in their responses to fire plus other talents outside the fire scene.

Aside from being the host, BFP-7 also looks forward to dominating the event as well. (FREEMAN)
