CEBU, Philippines — The Cebu City government will reveal its “Road to Recovery” blueprint during the city’s 85th Charter Anniversary this coming Thursday, February 24, 2022.
The city started its weeklong celebration for the city’s Charter Day on February 17.
“It is a product of bright minds among our active citizens who passionately chose to work with us in government through a series of discussions online and at City Hall in what we have referred to as the Convergence,” said Mayor Michael Rama.
Rama, when asked if the city will already be having more relaxed quarantine protocols given the decline of COVID-19 cases, did not give specific details, stressing that the public should watch out for his announcement on Thursday.
“Dili lang tingali curfew ang atong istoryahan kay kung curfew ang atong istoryahan, I don't want to make an executive order purely for that particular matter,” said Rama.
“Huwata lang gyud because it's more of a, as a I look at it, it will be an open-ended, should it be a directive or an executive order, and I look beyond, likely, it might be a catch-all provision,” he added.
Rama said the directive or executive order, will be “sweet, brief and clear.”
“I do not want to be giving a what I call telegraphic data but I will definitely be ready for a press con as soon as I will make that announcement,” he said.
Rama, however, hinted that it is possible that there will be exceptions or there will be no exceptions in some matters because “all are possibilities.”
The mayor still reminds the residents to continue to be vigilant and follow the minimum health protocols.
“Let us always safeguard our health. Amping lang ta kanunay, and let us all do this together, each and everyone of us. Usa ta’ng tanan sa pag-amping. This is our shared responsibility as a community, as a city,” said Rama. — JMD (FREEMAN)
