CEBU, Philippines — The number of quarantine and protocol violators in Cebu City has been declining since it transitioned into the less restrictive general community quarantine (GCQ).
Police Colonel Josefino Ligan, Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) chief, said his office recorded roughly 3,000 violators, a significant drop from 11,000 violators during the modified enhanced community quarantine from August 1 to September 7 this year.
He attributed the decrease to the city government’s Oplan Puyo or the stay-at-home order, which was implemented on September 8, and CCPO’s Oplan Bulabog.
“It is clearly shown (in the data) that the initiatives are also helping lessen COVID cases for the last 13 days (September 8 to 21). Meaning more apprehensions lesser COVID cases,” he said.
The apprehensions were conducted by CCPO’s 11 stations.
Ligan urged the public to continue observing the health and quarantine protocols.
Also, once the city shifted to relaxed modified general community quarantine, he said the augmentation forces, including the Regional Mobile Force Battalion (RMFB), will be pulled out. — KQD (FREEMAN)
