CEBU, Philippines — A high-value target was arrested by the operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7 during a buy-bust operation the other night at Sitio Univille, Barangay Kasambagan, Cebu City that yielded at least P3.4 million worth of illegal drugs.

The arrested suspect was identified as Nel Sidra Mayor alias Proktoy, a resident of the area.

Mayor was among those persons netizens had reported to Isumbong Mo Kay Wilkins Facebook page.

Confiscated during the operation were 57 pieces of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu weighing about 500 grams.

Cases for violation of Section 5 and 11, Article II of RA 9165 will be filed against the suspect.

Meanwhile, members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-7 conducted a separate buy-bust operation along Escario Street, Barangay Kamputhaw, Cebu City on the same day.

Arrested during the operation was Roldan Tacsan Purisima, 48, a resident of Upper Torre, Inayawan, Pardo, Cebu City.

Confiscated from him were P250,000 worth of illegal drugs and other drug paraphernalia such as weighing scale, sealers and empty plastic sachets.

NBI-7 executive officer Arnel Pura said they have been observing Purisima for days following a report from an informant.

In their initial investigation, authorities found out that Purisima was in charge of the distribution wherein his ‘boss’ is also a big player in the illegal drug trading.

Further investigation revealed that Purisima has been in the illegal business for almost six months, reportedly juggling with his job as a messenger. His distribution would include the areas of Inayawan where he is also residing.

Pura said they will be conducting further investigation to verify if Purisima’s job as messenger was also being used to transport illegal drugs. — GAN (FREEMAN)
