CEBU, Philippines — More than P4.7 million worth of suspected illegal drugs were confiscated in an anti-illegal drug buy-bust operation conducted by the City Drug Enforcement Unit of the Mandaue City Police Office (CDEU-MCPO) at Sitio Mabapo, Barangay Mambaling, Cebu City last Sunday.
Under the leadership of Police Lieutenant Colonel Franco Rudolf Oriol, the authorities were able to arrest 28-year-old Emeluna Maitim, who is considered a high value target, at around 9:15 p.m. the other night.
Confiscated from Maitim were packs of suspected shabu with estimated weight of 700 grams and valued P4.7 million.
Oriol said that Maitim as well is included in their drug watch-list.
According to Oriol, their operation against Maitim was the result of their previous operations where the past arrestees pointed to Maitim as part of their network and that Maitim is the supplier of the illegal drugs.
Since then, the authorities have placed Maitim on surveillance and monitoring to get the perfect timing to conduct the buy-bust operation against her.
During their initial investigation, Maitim reportedly admitted that she has been engaged in the illegal drug trading since September.
At present, Maitim is now under the custody of the Mandaue City Police pending the filing of the charge for violation of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.
The authorities as well are yet to determine if Maitim is part of a certain illegal drug group since their investigation on her case is still ongoing.
They will also be investigating the roots of Maitim’s supplies considering that the suspected shabu confiscated from her was huge. (FREEMAN)
