Dino calls out Young for slamming a table

CEBU, Philippines — Presidential Assistant for the Visayas Michael Lloyd Dino called out reelected Cebu City Councilor Joy Augustus Young for allegedly acting arrogant during one of the councilors’ meetings.

He said he got irked when he was informed that Young slammed his hand on the table while the councilors were discussing about their room assignments.

“Kani si Joy Young nag bundak-bundak ni siya sa iyang kamot sa lamesa atubangan sa ubang mga konsehal,” said Dino in an interview with The Freeman yesterday.

Dino said that Young should bear in mind that their time for bullying is over.

“He should remember nga dili siya magpa Tomas-Tomas kay wala siyay right. Wala gani angay si Tomas, samot na siya. Kinsa man siya?” said Dino.

Dino said that arrogant people have no place in the Duterte administration adding that Young’s political party, the Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan (BOPK), will soon no longer be the majority at the City Council especially with the entry of Gerry Guardo, who is expected to replace reelected councilor Alvin Arcilla who has been disqualified.

He further said that reelected councilor Sisinio Andales may soon face the same fate of disqualification and will be replaced by Joel Garganera.

Arcilla and Andales were both disqualified by the Comelec’s division level and en banc level.

Guardo ranked 9th and Garganera ranked 10th during the last national and local elections. Both belong to Barug, the political party of incoming Cebu City Mayor Edgardo Labella.

YOUNG: DINO IS LIAR

Young, however, refuted Dino’s claims and called the OPAV head a liar.

Young firmly denied the allegations of Dino saying that in his over 30 years as a public servant, there was never a time where he banged the table during a meeting in the City Council.

“Karon na lang ko mag-bang sa table nga tiguwang nako? He’s a liar. Kanus-a man ko nag bang? I have no history of banging or shouting during meetings,” he told The FREEMAN.

Young admitted there were arguments raised during the meetings about the room assignments of the newly-elected members of the City Council.

He said there were officials who wanted to occupy the office of outgoing Councilor Margarita Osmeña that is why he just said he will just take it instead of the others.

Young, however, stopped short of revealing further details about the exchange of words with other members of the City Council.

Young said it’s a “petty issue” but still criticized by Dino, stressing that the latter, who was not present during the meeting, should prove his allegations.

“Why is he making an issue? It’s just a waste of time answering it,” Young said. —Jean Marvette Demecillo/JOB (FREEMAN)
