CEBU, Philippines — A few days after assuming his post as Lapu-Lapu City Police Office director, Senior Superintendent Limuel Obon is considering reshuffling his personnel.
Last Tuesday Obon was formally introduced as the new LCPO chief, replacing Senior Superintendent Rommel Cabagnot who served in the position for two years.
Obon said he wants to review the records of his personnel first.
"Ako usa tan-awon kung they're doing good sa previous administrator or chief, kung the same ilahang enthusiasm or commitment sa akoa, they'll remain in that post," Obon told reporters.
He gave himself two weeks to observe all personnel from the staff inside LCPO, including those assigned to the city's five police stations.
Part of what he is planning is to look into the accomplishments of his personnel. About 300 policemen are assigned to the LCPO.
Obon said there will be "zero-tolerance" of policemen involved in drugs.
"I will sustain the internal cleansing of the PNP leadership to weed out misfits and scalawags in our organization," he added.
Obon said that it is not just him who will assess the policemen but also the organization's high-ranking officials with the aid of the city government.
Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Paz Radaza said she supports Obon's plans and expects that he will continue what Cabagnot did during his term such as maintaining peace and order in the city.
She also hopes that Obon, like Cabagnot, will be aggressive in the fight against illegal drugs.
Before being assigned LCPO chief, Obon was previously assigned in Manila for 12 years with Camp Crame, the National Capital Region Police Office, and the Quezon City Police District.
Cabagnot will be temporarily assigned to the Police Regional Office-7 headquarters while waiting for his next assignment. — BRP (FREEMAN)
