Talisay to install street lights at Cebu South Coastal Road

CEBU, Philippines — The city government of Talisay will start installing street lights at the South Coastal Road this week after receiving several complaints from the public.

City engineer Gamaliel Vicente Jr. said at least P1 million had been allocated to buy 280 LED lights to be installed starting from the fishport to Barangay Lawaan.

Vicente said the city government is thankful to the Visayan Electric Company because the latter has promised to help in the installation of the street lights.

“Thankful ra pud kaayo mi nga naa ang VECO nga motabang sa pagtaod sa mga suga. Basta naa ra man ang mga suga diritso na mataod para masug-an ang CSR,” he said

General Services Office head Joan Vebar said 190 LED lights will be delivered this week and will be installed immediately. She said the remaining half is still being processed.

“Anha man gyud ta madugay sa process ug sa mga signatories,” she said.

The city had been plagued with several complaints on social media because of the unlighted coastal road.

Among those who complained was a certain Dan Canton Salceda Jr.,  resident of Talisay City. Salceda posted on his facebook a picture of the very dark coastal road while he was stuck in traffic.

“Ngit-ngit na, traffic pa gyud sa Talisay,” his post reads. (FREEMAN)
