Robbers take over P800T cash from a store in Barili

CEBU, Philippines — Over P800,000 worth of cash was carted away by unidentified robbers from a general merchandise store in Barangay Poblacion, Barili town on Friday morning.

Initial investigation conducted by Barili police revealed that around 9 a.m. on Friday, one of the employees of the store owned by a certain Maria Teresita Fernandez discovered that the padlock of the store was already destroyed when he was about to open the store.

Police Officer 3 Rommel Patalinjug, case investigator, said that when the store staff opened the store they found that the three cash registers containing undetermined amounts of cash have been forcibly opened and destroyed.

The store vault, allegedly contained not less than P800,000 worth of cash and two envelopes containing P15,000 each was also carted away by the suspects.

Patalinjug said that they are still conducting follow-up investigation for the possible identification and arrest of the suspects.

The police are also checking if there are recordings from closed-circuit television cameras in the nearby establishments that can help established the case. (FREEMAN)
