Construction worker zapped dead

CEBU, Philippines – A construction worker got electrocuted while working at an apartment at Mt. View Village along Avila St., Barangay Kalunasan, Cebu City yesterday morning.

The victim was identified as Benjamin Panoncialman, 29, married and a resident of Sitio Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe.

The victim was allegedly installing something on the third floor of the apartment when he touched a wet wood leaning on a live wire and got electrocuted, said Nicanor Caburnay, one of the construction workers and a friend of Panoncialman.

“Giwahing ni Panoncialman ang basa nga kahoy nga nakasaghid sa live wire nga maoy nakapakuryenti niya,” he said.

The victim, who sustained major burns in the body, was rushed to Cebu City Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

The victim was already pale and unconscious by the time he was taken to the hospital.
