CEBU, Philippines - A 52-year-old man was arrested Saturday evening in Barangay Poblacion, Pinamungajan for bringing bladed weapons and resisting arrest.
Noel Peña was caught in possession of two kitchen knives. He earlier figured in a heated argument with his nephew while having a drinking session with their friends.
Senior Police Officer 1 Rey Toquero, desk officer of Pinamungajan Police Station, said that the suspect took two kitchen knives in the middle of the argument with his nephew prompting the latter to flee for safety.
A concerned citizen reported the incident to the police. Police Officer 2 Alfredo Degracia Jr., PO1 Alberto Bibas, and PO1 Absalon Cerna II responded to the alarm and found the suspect still holding the kitchen knives.
The suspect was ordered to put down the knives but challenged the policemen to a fight instead. The police officers were forced to grapple for possession of the knives before the suspect was eventually subdued and arrested.
The suspect will be charged for violation of Batas Pambansa Bilang 6 or concealing of bladed weapon as well as resistance and disobedience to an agent of a person in authority. The criminal complaints will be filed today before the prosecutor’s office. (FREEMAN)
