CEBU, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment, in coordination with the Labor Tripartite Council in Education, turned over several units of desktop computers and laptops to two private schools in Cebu.
DOLE-7 acting regional director Exequiel Sarcauga personally turned over 21 units of desktop computers and four laptops to Our Lady Academy, a private institution located in Ronda, Cebu.
Sarcauga said that the equipment will be of great help to the school adding that Ronda was one of the areas devastated by typhoon Seniang late last year and that it is only fitting to provide the town with assistance, hoping to help motivate the students to work and study even harder.
“We hope that these computer units will help nurture and develop the right skills in the students for them to be able to attain a certain level of competence and computer-related knowledge necessary for employability in the near future,” Sarcauga said in a statement.
On October 20, DOLE-7 also turned over eight units of desktop computers and a laptop to Advance Institute of Technology in Lapu-Lapu City.
The computers and laptop were donated by NEC Telecom Software Philippines, Inc., a Japanese call center based in Cebu I.T. Park, Lahug, Cebu City.
The firm is an active member of the DOLE’s Industry Tripartite Council (ITC)-Business Process Management (BPM).
Sarcauga is thankful to NEC NSP, Inc. and its president, Yoshifumi Sakaguchi, for the assistance.
