CEBU, Philippines – Department of Justice secretary Leila de Lima said that there are some reported “scalawag prosecutors” in Cebu who are now under investigation and one of them is a female prosecutor.
De Lima, who was in Cebu yesterday, said she received derogatory reports about this female prosecutor for all sorts of complaints including abuse of authority and lording over as a prosecutor.
"I do not want anyone in the National Prosecution Service using his or her position as a prosecutor to be doing shenanigans," the justice secretary said.
De Lima said that the matter is now under investigation by Internal Affairs Unit and has referred it to the Office of the Ombudsman.
Meanwhile, De Lima also said that they are still looking for a building where the Cebu City Prosecutors Office and the Public Assistance Office can transfer.
Currently, these offices are at the Marcelo Fernan Hall of Justice which was damaged by an earthquake in 2013.
De Lima, who will run for senator in the upcoming local and national election said that the transfer is being worked on by the DOJ's Finance and Administrative Divisions. —/BRP (FREEMAN)
