CEBU, Philippines – The Team Rama has revealed yesterday its complete slate for the south district a day after its rival political camp, Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, announced its partial list of candidates for the City Council.
Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama presented before the media during a press conference held at the Rama compound their candidates for the south district.
Completing the slate that Rama had earlier announced was Inayawan Barangay Captain Lutherlee “Lot-Lot” Ignacio-Soon. She will join reelectionist Councilors David Tumulak, Hanz Nendell Abella, and James Cuenco, former city councilors Jose Daluz III, Jocelyn Pesquera, Eduardo Rama, and Renato “JunJun” Osmeña Jr., son of former vice mayor Renato Osmeña Sr.
The Team Rama will be fielding Councilor Gerardo Carillo against incumbent south district Representative Rodrigo “Bebot’ Abellanosa.
Asked on his thoughts of the candidates of the rival political camp, Rama said he is not interested with them.
“We are not interested with their names. I do not want to discuss (about them), opponents will always be referred as opponents,” Rama told reporters.
Rama likewise reminded his group not to mention any name from the opposing party since doing such “will only be campaigning for the opponent.”
When asked to compare his team and that of the BOPK, the city mayor only had this subtle statement.
“I don’t want to brag but they just have to watch out,” said Rama.
“That is what we call a political trade secret. Do not show and be obvious of your arsenals. Strategies should never be revealed,” he added.
Team Rama has designated former south district congressman Antonio Cuenco as chairman emeritus. Former councilor Procopio Fernandez was vice chairman.
Daluz will act as campaign manager for the south district. He will be assisted by Councilor Richard Osmeña.
The partial list of candidates for the north district includes reelectionist Councilor Noel Eleuterio Wenceslao, Kamputhaw Councilman Raymond Garcia and Jerry Guardo.
Former mayor Alvin Garcia will be Team Rama’s candidate for congress against incumbent Congressman Raul del Mar. —/FPL (FREEMAN)
