CEBU, Philippines – A man who threatened to kill his neighbor and fired shots in the air during their altercation ended up in jail after responding police arrested him for carrying a gun and at least P70,000 worth of shabu in Barangay Tomonoy, Moalboal town Monday.
Jojo Erata, also known as Joel Fuentes, was arrested after Metchie Cerentas, 26, identified him as the one who threatened her with a gun past 12 noon on Monday this week.
Initial investigation revealed that the suspect threatened to kill the complainant after they quarreled for still unknown reason.
At the height of their altercation the suspect pulled out an undetermined caliber of hand gun, threatened to kill the victim and fired his gun in the air.
The victim ran away from the suspect and reported to the police who immediately responded to the alarm.
Upon the arrival of the police in Barangay Tomonoy, they saw the suspect who was identified by the victim as the person responsible.
The police commanded him to raise his shirt to check if he was bringing a weapon however he resisted and tried to escape, so the police grabbed him.
But when they searched the suspect they found out that he was bringing a caliber .38 revolver loaded with 4 live ammo and an empty shell in the chamber.
They also recovered a large pack of suspected shabu worth P70,000 from the suspect.
PO2 Peter Paul Tangpus, desk officer of Moalboal Police Station said that the suspect was charged with violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 and of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act.
Meanwhile, the police have arrested a suspected drug pusher in a buy-bust operation in Sitio Tabok, Barangay Maslog, Danao City past 1 a.m. yesterday.
In an interview with SPO3 Ildefonso Prosia, desk officer of Danao City Police Station he identified the suspect as a certain Manuel Avila Jr., 43, who is said to be included in the station’s list of drug personalities.
Prosia said that past 12 midnight yesterday the City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group of Danao City Police Station led by Police Officer 3 Marlon Remullo under the command of Superintendent Elmer Lim conduct the buy-bust.
The police poseur-buyer bought a small pack of suspected shabu from the suspect worth P200.
After his arrest the police searched the suspect and confiscated five six small packs of suspected shabu including the subject of the buy-bust, a medium pack of suspected shabu, the buy-bust money and P850 sales proceeds.
Prosia said that the confiscated shabu was valued at P62,068 based on the Dangerous Drugs Board estimate.
In Asturias town, a suspected drug pusher was arrested by the police after he sold a suspected pack of shabu to a police poseur-buyer past 4 p.m. on Monday in Barangay Tubigagmanok.
Janydel Buhia, 33, landed in the police station’s detention cell after he allegedly sold a pack of suspected shabu worth P200 to a police poseur-buyer. —/VLA (FREEMAN)
