CEBU, Philippines - The vehicle used by the lawyer who was ambushed two weeks ago was turned over to her colleague yesterday, said a police official.
Police Superintendent Mark Anthony Bastes, chief of the Investigation and Detection Management Branch of the Mandaue City Police Office, said that the gray BMW driven by lawyer Amelie “Am-am” Ocañada-Alegre was turned over to lawyer Briccio Joseph Boholst at 2:30 p.m. yesterday.
Boholst and a staff member of their firm, Antonio Pino, were with Alegre when the incident happened in Barangay Looc, Mandaue City last August 13, 2015.
Alegre was killed on the spot while Boholst and Pino were injured.
Bastes said the Police Regional Crime Laboratory Office-7 has given the go signal regarding the turnover of the vehicle.
“Naa na tanang rekisitos para makuha ang sakyanan,” Bastes said.
Police Senior Superintendent Mariano Natu-el, Jr., earlier said that the vehicle was considered to be owned by Boholst as its official receipt and certificate of registration were under Boholst’s name.
The city director added that Alegre placed the vehicle under Boholst’s name because the lady lawyer could not loan it since her husband’s consent was needed.
Alegre and her husband, Ryan, were “not in good terms” when the car was purchased.
Bastes said they are still pursuing the two assailants identified last week.
“Ma-solve ang kaso kun madakpan ang gunmen,” Bastes said. — (FREEMAN)
