8 erring cabbies reported in one day – LTFRB-7

CEBU, Philippines - The reports on taxi drivers who are not imposing the P30 flagdown rate have increased, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 said.

Elnar Reynaldo, officer in charge-regional director of LTFRB-7, said that yesterday alone, passengers filed complaints against at least eight taxi drivers who refused to comply with the provisional fare decrease.

The taxi drivers will be summoned on Monday, March 16, said Reynaldo.

Once the inspector report summon is served, Reynaldo said, the taxi driver will have to appear at the LTFRB-7 office and face the complainant for further inquiry.

Four other taxi drivers have been reported from Monday to Thursday, said Reynaldo.

Last Tuesday, Joel Ramos, driver of SD Taxi, reportedly threatened his passengers, Dave Say Horca and his wife, with a knife after he was asked to honor the P10 flagdown reduction.  Following the incident, Reynaldo advised the riding public to avoid arguing with taxi drivers who refuse to follow the provisional decrease, which took effect March 9.

“Once dili mosugot ang driver nga dili paminusan ang plitehan, dili na makipag-away sa driver. Report dayon sa opisina para likay sa bati nga panghitabo,” he said. — May B. Miasco/NSA (FREEMAN)
