CEBU, Philippines - A 25-year-old man from Negros Occidental came to Cebu to look for a job but ended up being incarcerated for allegedly trying to rape his cousin.
The accused, whose name withheld by The Freeman to protect the identity of the victim, was indicted by assistant city prosecutor Rhodna Bacatan for attempted rape. He was directed to pay P24,000 bail for his temporary liberty.
The 19-year-old victim said the accused tried to rape her on February 15 at 1:45 a.m. in Barangay Tisa, Cebu City. The accused visited the victim’s brother and decided to stay for the night.
However, the victim was surprised that the accused entered in her room at dawn and tried to rape her. She was able to escape and asked help from her brother.
The victim imme-diately reported the incident to the barangay resulting in the immediate arrest of the suspect. (FREEMAN)
