Toledo students to undergo leadership training

CEBU, Philippines - To develop young people in becoming future leaders, Carmen Copper Corporation and Ramon Aboitiz Foundation, Inc. sealed an agreement to conduct youth leadership and development training to high school students in Toledo City.

“We want to engage young people and unlock their enthusiasm, passion and hope for the future. We want them to become future leaders. And of course, we want to do this the collaborative way,” said CCC Vice President and Resident Manager Rodrigo Cal.

The collaboration between CCC and RAFI was expressed during the signing of the memorandum of agreement yesterday at the Cebu Grand Hotel in Cebu City.

RAFI President Roberto Aboitiz said the partnership is a step in injecting into the community a program that induces significant transformation among the youth.

CCC Vice President on Human Resource Administration Rene de Ocampo likewise said that the initiative is a way of giving back to the company’s neighboring communities, which provided support to their operations and contributed to the success of their enterprise.

Aboitiz, for his part, regarded the role of the mining company in its contribution to Cebu’s development.

The signatories of the MOA include Ocampo, Aboitiz, Cal and Kool Adventure Camp Director Edvan Loh, who represented RAFI Chief Operating Officer Dominica Chua.

Also present during the sealed agreement was Armando Malicsi, officer in charge of Mine, Safety, Environment and Social Development Division of Mines and Geosciences Bureau - 7 and Department of Education - 7 Education Program Supervisor Victor Intig.

Students who will be selected will be officers and members of the Supreme Student Government of six public secondary schools and a private secondary school in Toledo City.

The national high schools are from the barangays of Don Andres Soriano (DAS), Cantabaco, Bunga, Media Once, Magdugo, and General Climaco and private institution De La Salle Andres Soriano Memorial College.  — (FREEMAN)
