CEBU, Philippines - The municipality of Tuburan received P40 million worth of hospital equipment, materials, and medicines donated by the Bisaya Medical Association (BMA) in the United States.
After the turnover last Sunday to Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante and Vice Mayor Danilo Diamante, the group led by its president, Dr. Maria Raffinan, conducted a medical mission.
The event lasted Friday was attended by 60 medical practitioners and staff of the BMA-USA and some municipal officials.
Rev. Fr. Mike Lecias, representing the ministry, was also with the medical team.
A total of 703 patients received medical services, which include free consultation with free medicines and minor surgery and vasectomy, which was conducted at the Tuburan District Hospital.
The beneficiaries include children, adults, senior citizens, and among others.
Mayor Diamante expressed his deep gratitude to the good-hearted balikbayans of the BMA-USA team for the humanitarian act extended to the Tuburanons.
The BMA-USA also conducted a medical mission in February 2014.
