CEBU, Philippines - A man who was allegedly suffering from a mental problem was gunned down by his neighbor whom he earlier had a fistfight in Barangay Colawin, Argao town last Monday.
Jenard Mabida, 33, died of multiple gunshot wounds while the suspect, Edgar Gecale, 31, fled after the incident.
Police Officer 3 Benjamin Gerosaga, desk officer of Argao Police Station, said that prior to the shooting incident, Mabida and Gecale engaged in a fistfight and were pacified by bystanders.
Gecale, however, then reportedly went home to get an undetermined caliber of firearm. He then returned to the victim and shot him several times.
The victim died on the spot and while the suspect fled and is now being hunted down by the police.
According to the police, Mabida’s mother alleged that her son had a mental problem.
Meanwhile, on the same day in Barangay Liboo, Ronda town, a man was shot and killed by an unidentified gunman.
Rolito Fuetes was reportedly about to ride on his motorcycle Monday night when he was shot by his assailant who was wearing a mask.
The victim sustained gunshot wounds to his stomach and left shoulder and was brought to Barili District Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The police recovered a live round of a 12-gauge shotgun and two empty shells from a .30 M1 carbine rifle.
Investigation is ongoing to determine the motive of the killing and to identify the assailant. — (FREEMAN)
