CEBU, Philippines - A barangay councilman claimed that he was actually able to evade the punches and kicks of a Nigerian national who was arrested for reportedly going wild and displaying rude behavior Thursday in Barangay Sambag II, Cebu City.
Ryan Aznar, councilman of Sambag II, said Nigerian national Ilasanmi Kayode Tosin tried to hit him after he invited the foreigner to go to the barangay hall, but he was able to evade his attacks.
“Wala man ko maigo kay nakalihay man ko but tinuod nga rude gyud iyang behavior,” he said. Tosin, 23, also reportedly threatened to kill Aznar.
Tosin was reported by a cashier of Balamban Liempo at Urgello Street for allegedly stalking her and touching her private parts.
Aznar, who serves as the barangay chairman of peace and order, went to the area and invited the Nigerian national to proceed to the barangay hall to answer the complaint. The councilman said it took 10 to 15 persons to handcuff the six-footer foreigner. He also confirmed that Police Officer 2 Ullyses Reales even sustained bruises during the struggle.
Aznar said Tosin had previous records in the barangay for not paying the rental fees in his boarding house where he temporarily stays.
Tosin’s friends who were also Nigerian nationals allegedly informed him that Tosin has been depressed after his father passed away but he could not go home since he had pending dues in the immigration.
The councilman also received information from Tosin’s landlord that he was allegedly using illegal drugs.
Tosin is currently detained at Fuente Police Station and will face charges for acts of lasciviousness, direct assault, threat, resistance, and disobedience to a person in authority. (FREEMAN)
