CEBU, Philippines - Two siblings died after a passenger bus hit the tricycle they were riding along Barangay Guadalupe, Carcar City around 6 a.m. yesterday.
Harry Saramosing, 38, and his elder sister, Peperlita Anonsiado, 40, both residents in the area, were pronounced dead on arrival at the city’s Cebu Provincial Hospital.
Rogelio Alipin Jr., 36, driver of Librando Bus (GXF 541) that hit the victims, is now in police custody.
Senior Police Officer 1 Eduardo Bagol, traffic investigator of Carcar City Police Station, said that based on the investigation, prior to the incident, Saramosing drove a tricycle locally known as tangkal-tangkal from the city proper to supposedly deliver hogs with Anonsiado.
At the same time, the bus was heading to Cebu City from Badian town.
When the tricycle reached Sitio Cristo Reyes, Saramosing reportedly lost control of the steering while negotiating a curve.
The tricycle encroached on the opposite lane and was sideswiped by the speeding bus.
Because of the impact, both Saramosing and Anonsiado were thrown away.
The victims sustained severe body injuries and died on the way to the hospital.
The bus driver will be facing a charge for reckless imprudence resulting to homicide and damage to property. — (FREEMAN)
