Capitol eyes to give seniors aid, too

CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Capitol wants to give cash assistance to the senior citizens starting next year.

This was revealed by Provincial Board Member Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba during the Senior Citizen’s Day celebration last week.

Alcoseba told the senior citizens that the planned cash assistance, which is to be given annually, will be sourced out from the 2015 Annual Budget, through a supplemental budget.

Alcoseba said they are already requesting all the local government units in the province to update them with the list of their senior citizens for budgeting.

For the part of the senior citizens federation, Lorenzo Moscoso, president of Provincial Federation of Senior Citizens Association of Philippines-Cebu, said they look forward for Alcoseba’s news to come true.

He said that while their fellow elderlies in Cebu City are receiving regular cash assistance, many of their members have been asking when they will get similar benefit as well.

Moscoso, in an interview with the Cebu Public Information Office, said that when this happens, it proves that Capitol is also giving importance to them. (FREEMAN)
