LTFRB-7 CHIEF Operators to Cuizon: Keep post

CEBU, Philippines - Taxi, bus, and mini-bus operators are asking the secretary of the Department of Transportation and Communication for the retention of Ahmed Cuizon as Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board-7 director.

Julieto Flores, Cebu Provincial Bus Operators Association spokesperson and Cebu South Mini-bus Operators Association president, said Cuizon has straightened out the office during his stint.

“Gusto gyud namo nga di siya mohawa sa LTFRB-7 kay tungod niya nawagtang ang graft and corruption sa maong opisina (We want him to stay because he managed to rid the office of graft and corruption),” Flores said.

He said Cuizon was also able to unite the transport sector in the region, especially in Cebu. CPBOA and CSMBOA, he said, are joined by the Metro Cebu Taxi Operators Association in their sentiment.

“Iyaha gyud gi-involve ang transport sector sa mga nagkalain-laing activities sa LTFRB,” Flores said.

Cuizon, though, is intent on assuming his new role as Mactan Cebu International Airport assistant general manager before the month ends.

The position has long been vacant and was just temporarily occupied by Romeo Bersonda, who already retired from service.

“I have nothing but respect for our transport operators and I thank them for their kind words. But my future position in the MCIAA is a promotion...it’s an upward career move and I hope they (transport operators) understand that,” Cuizon said, when sought for his comments.

“I would like to think that my mission in LTFRB is already accomplished and I would now like to move on to another step in my public service work,” Cuizon added.

Cuizon was appointed by President Benigno Aquino III as LTFRB-7 director in 2010.

Prior to that stint, Cuizon was head of the MCIA public affairs department.  (FREEMAN)
