CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Government has commended officers of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 and the Philippine Air Force’s 303rd Air Intelligence and Security Group for their achievement in eradicating a marijuana plantation in the town of Balamban last April.
Through a resolution authored by Provincial Board member Carmen Remedios Meca, co-chair of the Cebu Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Commission, PDEA-7 was further commended for implementing a search warrant against one Jose Perfecto Amadora in Barangay Cogon, Dumanjug town last May.
Amadora, a municipal market administrator, was arrested during a raid on a suspected drug den in Dumanjug.
PDEA-7 operatives were then able to recover 20 plastic sachets containing approximately 100 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu, assorted drug paraphernalia, two Caspian cal .40 pistols, around 500 rounds of ammunition and cash in different denominations amounting to P2,167 believed to be proceeds of illegal drug activities.
Last April 11, both agencies burned P1.4M worth of marijuana sticks in Barangay Bayong, Balamban.
“The successful operations of PDEA and 303rd Air Intelligence and Security Group showed courage, determination and efficiency on the part of the law enforcers in pursuing the campaign against illegal drugs,” the resolution reads.
Apart from receiving a copy of the resolution, PDEA-7 officer-in-charge Esperidion Javier and three subordinates also received cash incentives from the provincial government yesterday.
Cebu Governor Hilario Davide III handed over P10, 000 to Javier and P5, 000 to each of the three PDEA-7 officers.
Javier said PDEA will continue to beef its security measures in ports and terminals in Cebu, Bohol, Siquijor and Dumaguete City and lessen, if not eradicate, illegal drugs in the region. — (FREEMAN)
