Rama to deliver SOCA first time on council session

CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is set to deliver his State of the City Address on July 2, this time at the council session hall.

For two consecutive years, the mayor had been delivering his SOCA outside the session hall as majority of the members of the council were from Bando Osmeña Pundok Kauswagan, the political party of his archrival and former mayor, Rep. Tomas Osmeña.

“Nigawas lang ko sauna kay wala man ko pasudla nila,” Rama said.

It was during the term of former Vice Mayor Joy Augustus Young that Rama pronounced to leave BOPK. Majority of the councilors then subsequently no longer attended the SOCA of the local chief executive.

This time, Vice Mayor Edgardo Labella invited the mayor to deliver his inaugural address inside the session hall even if the majority of the councils are still members of BOPK.

“Nang-imbitar man sila. Dapat mang-imbitar sad gyod sila,” Rama said, adding that the SOCA should supposedly be deliverd inside the session hall.

Labella said that a committee on three or three female members of the council will fetch the mayor from his office to the session hall.

Councilors Mary Ann Delos Santos, Ma. Nida Cabrera, Lea Japson, and majority floor leader Margarita Osmeña will be chosen to compose the said committee.

“We’ll expect to hear what the mayor has done during his term…  And we expect minor changes on membership of the committees,” Labella said.  (FREEMAN)
