CEBU, Philippines - A robbery suspect admitted getting help from his parents when he escaped from detention at the Medellin Police Station last April.
Jessie Allomado Jr. said his father, Jessie Sr., facilitated his escape to Iloilo. The statement of the suspect, however, contradicts to that of his father.
Jessie Sr. claimed that his son was allowed to escape by the police. In fact, he filed an administrative complaint before the Ombudsman-Visayas against Medellin police chief Fructuoso Lim.
The father accused Lim of using his son to do an errand at the police station and allowed him to escape.
Lim denied allowing the suspect to escape. He suspects that a drug personality maybe out to discredit him.
“Ambot nganong gidaut ko nga dili man unta mi kaila sa iyang papa klaru nga dunay gadumot nako unya gisakyan lang ni,†Lim said.
Provincial Investigation and Detective Management Branch chief, Supt. Rodolfo Albotra, said it was clear that the parents knew about the escape. The police, how-ever, are still doing further investigation to determine the criminal culpability of the parents.
But Albotra admitted that the admission of the suspect will have an impact on the ongoing administrative investigation against the responsible policemen in Medellin.
“Ang statement ni Allomado will give an impact on the investigation of the administrative charges of those involved nga police,†Albotra said.
Albotra dismissed the father’s claim that the police facilitated the escape. He said it was the suspect’s choice to escape when he had the chance.
After his escape, Jessie Jr. went to Bacolod using the money given to him by his parents and found a job. He later surrendered to the police in Bacolod after losing his job. (FREEMAN)
