CEBU, Philippines - For allegedly selling dangerous drugs, two women faced charges before the Cebu City Prosecutor’s Office.
Teresa “Inday†Bulambao, 40 and Crestita Montebon, 48, were charged for a violation of Section 5 (selling of shabu) in relation to Section 26 (attempt or conspiracy), Article II of Republic Act 9165 otherwise known as Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Aside from Section 5, Bulambao was also charged for a violation of Section 11 (illegal possession of shabu), Article II of RA 9165.
During inquest proceeding, respondents manifested before state prosecutor Simaco Labata to answer the allegations filed against them.
The respondents were given 10 days to file their respective counter-affidavits.
Bulambao and Montebon were arrested on Tuesday night through a buy-bust operation lead by Senior Police Officer 4 Dodong Tano of the Regional Anti Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Force in Barangay Labangon, Cebu City.
The authorities reportedly conducted more than two months surveillance against the respondents before the arrest.
During the said operation, the respondents handed a pack of shabu to the poseur buyer prompting their arrest. The police seized 300 grams of shabu worth P3 million.
Tano earlier said respondents can allegedly disposed one kilo of shabu per week and have operated in Metro Cebu.
The arrest of the respondents were two days after Editha Paul, 58 and her daughter, Maricris Paul, 32 were arrested by the operatives of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-7.
Editha and Maricris were arrested inside the office of a private courier after claiming a parcel that contained a kilo of shabu with an estimated value of P8 million.
The parcel reportedly contained 10 pairs of rubber sandals with 50 grams of shabu hidden in each sandal.
The two denied any knowledge of the content of the parcel. Editha said she was only asked to claim the shipment.
She asked to spare her daughter from charges because she has nothing to do with it. Editha claimed she only asked her daughter to accompany her because she doesn’t know how to use cellular phone where the tracking number of the parcel was sent. — (FREEMAN)
