CEBU, Philippines - Concreting work on a kilometer-long road from corner B. Rodriguez Street to J. Alcantara Street corner V. Rama Avenue is expected to begin by month’s end or early next month.
Lawyer Joey Daluz, the person designated by the city government to oversee the project, said the concreting works will cost the city P44 million. Twenty-eight centimeters of concrete will be poured unto the existing road and Alfred Tiu, Project Engineer of PLD Construction, said they target to finish construction with 210 days.
So as not to disrupt vehicle traffic too much, work will be from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m.
Tiu said work during the day will be more on compacting.
PLD Construction has proposed a temporary traffic scheme but Cebu City Traffic Operations Management operations chief Joy Tumulak said they are yet to review the proposal. PLD and CITOM representatives will meet Monday to finalize the traffic plan.
The following day, City Hall departments with involvement in the project will also meet.
Daluz said he has instructed Tiu to distribute leaflets to residents of Barangay Calamba where the road is located to inform them about the impending work. He also urged Tiu to put up road signs and enough lights at the project site once work begins so vehicles will be made aware of ongoing construction.
“Magpasiga mi’g series ig ka gabie para mailhan nga dunay excavation,†Tiu said. — (FREEMAN)
