CEBU, Philippines - Operatives of the Provincial Intelligence Branch seized several gun parts and gun-making machines in the mountain barangay of Masaba, Danao City Wednesday morning.
Police could not estimate the amount of the items confiscated but said the extent of the operation could crumple the manufacture of loose firearms.
Seized were two push drills, five bench vises, two bench grinders, four pistol pattern frames, seven unfinished lower pistol slides, three barrels and 23 pieces of pistol magazines.
PIB failed to arrest anybody from at least 10 persons who were seen in the area but managed to scamper to different directions upon sensing their presence.
Supt. Rodulfo Albotra Jr., chief of PIB, said they will conduct an investigation to identify the gun manufacturer.
Albotra said the confiscation of the machines could hamper illegal gun-manufacturing operations, which have been prevalent in the city.
“Sa sige nato og panakop unya mangakuha ni’ng mga machines nila, ang craftsmanship nila ‘ron layo ra sa una, dili na gyud nindot,†Albotra said, saying that the production of loose firearms in Cebu has reduced to about 50 to 70 percent. (FREEMAN)
