CEBU, Philippines - Three persons, including two minors, were injured and two men died in separate shooting incidents Saturday evening.
Juanita Cañedo, 2; Laurence Caparida, 11; and Jocelyn Mandawe, 41, all residents of Barangay Tabunok, Talisay City were all injured when their neighbor reportedly played with his handgun that suddenly went off.
They were rushed to the Talisay City Hospital for treatment and were later referred to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center in Cebu City.
Tirso Icoy, 41, was reportedly seen by his neighbor playing with a handgun when all of a sudden they heard a loud burst of gunfire. They then noticed that three victims were hit.
Caparida was watching television at the window of the house owned by Lesley Catidrilla when he was hit in his left hand. The bullet rebounded and hit Cañedo on the right finger and Mandawe on the neck.
“Si Mandawe nagkugos na sa bata unya kanang bata iyang kamot naa sa liog sa gakugos,†Inspector Rogene Fudotan, Talisay City investigator, said.
The police conducted a hot pursuit operation but Icoy fled on foot.
Police recovered an empty shell of 9mm pistol from the scene.
In a separate incident, Raul Radaza Engbino, 33, an alleged robber reportedly involved in several robbery incidents in Cebu City and the southern area of Metro Cebu was gunned down by an unidentified man along the national highway of Barangay Tunghaan, Minglanilla past 11 p.m.
Senior Inspector Richard Gadingan, Minglanilla police chief, said that Engbino was drinking water near a water dispenser along the road when the gunman on board a XRM motorcycle arrived and shot the victim on the head.
Police recovered one empty shell of .45 pistol.
Meanwhile, Rodric Cabilao, 40, of Barangay Guadalupe was shot to death by a riding in tandem past 6 a.m. yesterday morning at V. Rama Avenue, Barangay Calamba in Cebu City.
Police investigation revealed that the suspect was crossing the street when two persons riding a motorcycle arrived and shot him several times.
Five empty shells, one fragment and two slugs of caliber .45 pistol were recovered in the crime scene. (FREEMAN)
