CEBU, Philippines - After Negros Oriental was recently declared as “conflict manageable and development-ready,” a company from the Regional Public Safety Battalion will be transferred from Cebu to the province as part of the turning over of the Central Command of its responsibilities to the Philippine National Police.

Senior Superintendent Mariano Natuel Jr., OIC provincial director of Negros Oriental Provincial Police Office and the concurrent head of the Personnel and Human Resources Division of the Police Regional Office-7, said that a company from Cebu will be securing Negros Oriental.

The RPSB is also responsible for monitoring insurgent movements in the whole region.

Major General John Bonafos, commander of the AFP-Central Command, declared the province as conflict manageable and development ready.

In an earlier interview, the outgoing Regional Director Chief Supt. Danilo Constantino said that there are insurgent movements in the place but they are still manageable.

Aside from security, the RPSB has also extended community service in the past few months.

PO1 Edwin Catamco, Public Information Officer of the RPSB said they have conducted population awareness seminars to the communities.

“Among tuyo sir nga maka-abot among serbisyo sa mga lugar nga wala pa maabti sa serbisyo sa gobyerno,” he said.

Aside from responsible parenting seminars, they also conducted population awareness discussions and provided free haircuts and feeding programs during the activity.  (FREEMAN)
