Closed KTV bar to be converted into a restaurant

CEBU, Philippines - The controversial Las Vegas KTV bar at the North Reclamation Area would be converted into a restaurant following the denial of the Cebu City Government  on appeal of the bar owners for reconsideration of the closure order.

The City Anti-Indecency Board (CAIB) chief, Dr. Lucelle Mercado, said the property was already sold to a certain businessman.

Lawyer Inocencio dela Cerna, representing the establishment, confirmed through text message to The FREEMAN that the said KTV bar was sold.

“Yes. Sus ang problema di gihapon tagaan og permit,” he said.

Last December 20, 2013, CAIB and the City Prevention Restoration Order Beautification Enhancement (PROBE) padlocked the establishment following reports of lewd and obscene shows, which was a violation of City Ordinance 1408.

The motion for reconsideration was filed before the Office of the Mayor last January 8, 2014.

Mercado said the bar will be named “San Francisco Restaurant”. She added that the first proposal was Resto Bar but CAIB refused, explaining that same business cannot be done on the same location.

She said the new management must submit a proposal to CAIB on how they are going to enhance or change the ambiance of the bar into an “appropriate” restaurant.

“Dako gyod ni sila nga trabahuon kay matag cubicle duna may CR, unusual man usab sa restaurant ang dunay daghang CR,” Mercado said.

Following the denial of the motion for reconsideration, dela Cerna said they will bring the matter to the court because the closure of the said KTV Bar has no due process. (FREEMAN)
