CEBU, Philippines - A condo unit was robbed by an unidentified person who carted away a total of P1.5 million in cash and valuables in Nivel Hills, Barangay Busay, Cebu City.
Dr. Lizbeth Regner, 62, a resident of Tower 2 CITI Light Condominium was surprised when the door knob of the service door in her room was detached past 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
Theft and Robbery Section led by SPO4 Ernesto Panaligan conducted the ocular inspection and found out that someone forcibly detached and changed the door knob of Regner's room.
Lost items include P200,000 and $1,000 cash, a Gold Rolex watch worth P400, 000; jewelry worth P800,000, a Macbook Pro worth P50, 000 and her digital camera worth P5, 000.
She also found out that her gun and driver's license; a land title, condo keys, a credit card and a document pertaining to her son were missing.
Police investigation revealed that sometime on January 20 around 3:15 to 4:45 p.m., Regner's son, Vergel, and his two children went into the condo.
Police investigators also found out that the same thing happened last Friday morning from 10:58 to 11:23 a.m. as shown by the condo's visitor's logbook.
Police are now investigating the matter and are now looking for possible suspects.
Meanwhile, a 25-year-old robber was arrested around 11:30 p.m. Friday at IT Park in Cebu City.
Angelito Gabules, of Salinas Drive Extension, Barangay Lahug was arrested after he was positively identified by his victim who sought the help of IT Park's security guards.
Markenny Angob, 25, was robbed by the alleged suspect using a screw driver and was pushed on the road when he tried to resist.
Angob suffered minor injuries in his body yet the suspect demanded to give his cellphone and wallet.
The suspect ran away after the incident but Angob managed to seek help of the IT Park's security guards Gualberto Taghap Jr. and Ignacio Son who successfully captured the suspect.
Recovered items are his Nokia 2730, Cloudfone 402D, his wallet containing P4, 000, and assorted ID card from the suspect.
The suspect was turned over to the custody of the TRS for filing of appropriate charges. — (FREEMAN)
