CEBU, Philippines - A seven-year old boy died shortly before New Year's Day when the tricycle driven by his father collided hit a motorcycle in Pagutlan, Tayud, Consolacion.
The victim was identified as John Ryan Pilapil,7, a son of Rex Brian Pilapil, 27, resident of the same place.
At around 11:55 p.m. on December 31, 2013, the tricycle of the Pilapils collided with the motorcycle driven by Chender Pepito, 23.
PO1 Raymond Lleve of Consolacion Police together with three traffic enforcers responded the vehicular accident.
Police investigation disclosed that Pepito, a resident of Baja-baja, Tayud, was driving a no headlight and no plate number motorcycle towards southbound when it accidentally hit the tricycle that was about to turn left.
The said incident caused John Ryan's death and injured Jorex, 9-year old, also the son of Rex Brian.
The back rider of Pepito, Cristituto Lauron, also sustained injuries.
The injured persons were brought to Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center (VSMMC) but John Ryan, who seated at the front of his father was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
Rex Brian admitted to the police that he was under the influence of liquor during the time of incident.
The motorcycle of Pepito was impounded at Consolacion Traffic Enforcement Service for safekeeping and for proper disposition while appropriate charges are being prepared against him.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man died in barangay Tuyan, Naga City, Cebu on January 1, 2014 at around 8:30 p.m. when he was hit by a Toyota Innova Wagon driven by Bonifacio Bontilao, 40, a resident of Barangay Pusok, Lapu-Lapu City.
The Toyota Innova Wagon is owned by Arlen Forzado, a resident of Poblacion, Carmen, Cebu.
According to the Naga City Police, Bontilao was traversing towards Cebu City from Oslob, south of Cebu, when he accidentally hit the victim when it suddenly crossed the road.
Reportedly, Bontilao did not notice the victim crossing.-- /GMR (FREEMAN)
