Ceres bus driver released from jail

CEBU, Philippines -  The driver of the Ceres bus that figured in an accident in Badian town recently has posted bail and has been released from jail.

SPO1 Geremias Ilardo of the Badian Police said Erwin Gerson, 42, posted a bail of P40,000 for the anti-drunk driving case before the Regional Trial Court in Barili town and  another P2,000 for the reckless imprudence resulting in homicide case before the Municipal Trial Court in Cities in Moalboal town. 

Gerson was maneuvering a blind curve in Barangay Balhaan, Badian when he lost control of the bus, causing the vehicle to hit a metal post before it titled and fell on its side.

Gerson’s wife and daughter, Geralyn, who were seated beside him in the bus were killed in the incident. Thirty two other passengers were injured.

Investigation revealed that Gerson was driving under the influence of liquor and that he and his wife were engaged in an argument prior to the incident. – (FREEMAN)
