CEBU, Philippines - The Cebu Provincial Government will be meeting with the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission to discuss the repair of churches in the province that were damaged by the 7.1-magnitude earthquake that hit Central Visayas last Oct. 15.
Vice Gov. Agnes Magpale yesterday received a donation of P500,000 from the Korean Power Corporation (KEPCO) Philippines. She said that part of the amount would be added to funds for the repair of churches.
KEPCO Philippines will be donating as well another P500,000 to the Bohol Province o help fund relief and rehabilitation operations. Both KEPCO SPC power corporation president Boo Joo Choi and vice president Sang Kook lee personally turned over the check to Magpale.
Magpale said that they will be meeting with the Archdiocesan Commission to discuss on the repair of five churches in the southern part of Cebu.
Also, Msgr. Carlito Puno, chairman of the Cebu Archdiocesan Commission for Cultural Heritage, reportedly gave a verbal approval to Magpale on the matter.
Among the five churches damaged in Cebu, only that in Boljoon has been proclaimed as a national heritage. (FREEMAN)
